China RoHS New Year's Big Upgrade: 10 Harmful Substances Management Fully Launched

Starting from January 1, 2026, the Chinese RoHS supporting standard "Requirements for the Limitation Restricted Use Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" GB/T 26572-2011 "Amendment No. 1" was officially,
with the controlled substances increased to 10 items, and the testing methods were updated to the GB/T 39560 series standards. This marks the fulling of China RoHS with EU RoHS,
and lays a transitional foundation for the mandatory national standard GB 26572-2025, which will be implemented on August 1, 2027. The relevant requirements are now clarified as follows:
01. From the date of issuance of this announcement to 31, 2025, enterprises should carry out conformity assessment activities in accordance with GB/T 26572-2011 or GBT 26572-2011 and its Amendment No. 1 or GB 26572-2025; from January ,
2026 to July 31, 2027, conformity assessment activities should be carried out in accordance with GB/T 2652-2011 and its Amendment No. 1 or GB 26572-2025; from August 1, 2027 conformity assessment activities should be carried out in accordance with GB 26572-2025.
02. Starting from January 1, 026, products that have completed conformity assessment activities in accordance with GB/T 26572-2011 and continue to be manufactured and imported complete the transition of conformity assessment to GB/T 26572-2011 and its Amendment No. 1 or GB 2657-2025 by January 1,
2027; from August 1, 2027, products that have completed conformity assessment activities in accordance GB/T 26572-2011 and its Amendment No. 1 and continue to be manufactured and imported can complete the transition of conformity assessment GB 26572-2025 through natural transition methods such as expiration of certificates and product changes.
03. The testing methods for conformity activities of electrical and electronic products for the restriction of the use of harmful substances in accordance with GB/T 26572-2011 and its Amendment No 1 or GB 26572-2025 shall be carried out in accordance with the corresponding parts of the GB/T 39560 standards.

After the update of the controlled substances list, in addition to updating the harmful substances testing items, enterprises should also pay attention to meeting the new version labeling requirements and conformity assessment requirements when implementing compliance control.
▶ Key Point 1: New Version of Labeling Requirements
The "Requirements for the Restriction the Use of Harmful Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" (SJ/T 11364-2024) will be implemented from April , 2025, and will be implemented simultaneously with the first amendment to GB/T 26572 by January 1, 2026 the latest.
Requirements: The table of information on harmful substances must be adjusted from 6 items to 10 items and comply with the labeling provisions in the new.
▶ Key Point 2: Switch Conformity Assessment
Requirements: Starting from January 1, 2026, products that have completed theity assessment activities for 6 substances according to GB/T 26572-2011 and continue to leave the factory and be imported should complete the transition the conformity assessment for 10 harmful substances by January 1, 2027.
