In today's world of increasingly intelligent consumer electronics, industrial equipment, and household appliances, battery safety has become an indispensable aspect of global product design and market access.

UL 4200A, as a certification standard focused on 'traceability and labeling of batteries and battery systems,' is receiving increasing attention from manufacturers.

Manufacturers and/or importers of products containing button batteries must provide product certificates for all children's products, or provide a general certificate of conformity (GCC) applicable to general-use consumer products imported to and sold in the U.S. market.

UL4200A and 16 CFR 1263 standards mainly apply to products containing lithium batteries, especially devices that contain button cells or coin cells. Their core objectives are:

1. To prevent safety accidents caused by children accidentally swallowing lithium batteries;

2. To enhance the ability of products to identify, trace, and provide warnings for battery components at the design stage;

3. To support product market entry in North America and other markets that are highly sensitive to child safety.

1. GCC and UL4200A Product Body Label Requirements

If there is enough space, label as shown in Figure 7C.1; if space is insufficient, label as shown in Figure 7C.2, and the user manual must clearly explain the meaning of Figure 7C.2.

1. Figures 7C.1 and 7C.2 can be in black and white or color. If in color, they must match the colors shown in the figures below;

2. The width of Figure 7C.2 must be at least 7mm, and the height at least 9mm;

3. Font size requirements should refer to Table 7A.1.

2. GCC, UL4200A Product Packaging Requirements

If there is enough space, the marking shown in Figure 7B.1 or 7B.2 (choose one) must be used.

If there is not enough space, the marking shown in Figure 7B.3 can be used in a prominent main location, and the marking shown in Figure 7B.4 in a secondary prominent location.

Note:

1. If the product has no packaging, a hangtag or sticker with the marking shown in Figure 7B.1 or 7B.2 must be used on the product. Additionally, the height of the triangular exclamation mark logo and the "WARNING" text must be at least 5mm; the height of other warning text must be at least 2.5mm.

2. Figures 7B.1, 7B.2, 7B.3, and 7B.4 can be in black or color. If color is used, it must match the colors shown in the figures below.

3. The right-side marking in Figure 7B.1 must be at least 7mm in width and 9mm in height.

4. The right-side marking in Figure 7B.2 must have a diameter of at least 8mm.

5. The right-side marking in Figure 7B.3 must be at least 7mm in width and 9mm in height; font size requirements should refer to Table 7A.1 on the previous page.

3. GCC, UL4200A Manual Requirements

1) Must indicate Figure 7B.1 or 7B.2 (choose one)
